
Ana Ivanovic received 2 awards in Miami during the WTA ceremony of awarding the best players in 2007 season. Ana won award for the most improved player and the prestigeous Karen Krantzcke Sportmanship Award given to the most sportsmanlike player on the WTA Tour.
This is the second time that Ana received the award for most improved player (first one in 2005 season), Ana won 3 WTA tournaments last year and played Roland Gaross final. Ana won the award ahead of Jelena Jankovic, Anna Chakvetadze and Sybille Bammer.
Ana: 'It's been an amazing year, I have a bad memory of playing here last year, and it's incredible when I think of everything that has happened since. I'm very proud, but I want to go further and get to No.1."
The Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award is voted for by the players is awarded in honor of Karen Krantzcke, Top 10 tennis players who died tragically at the age of 30.
Ana: 'It's always a great feeling to win an award, but this one is a little bit more special because it was voted for by the players I am competing against. "I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me for both awards'.
Larry Scott, WTA Tour chief executive: 'It is a fantastic achievement for Ana to be recognised not only by the media for her on-court achievements, but by her peers for the way she conducts herself on and off the court'.
As for other awards, Justine Henan was voted for 'best player of the year', Agnes Szavay 'newcomer of the year', Lindsay Davenport 'comeback player of the year', Liezel Huber 'player service award winner', Cara Black & Lieziel Huber 'doubles team of the year'.
Ana's match is the last one on schedule (prime-time:) in women's competition today and will not start before 3.30pm local time.
